We offer leather and hair on tanning. There are 5 color options available for leather - shown at left (from left to right: black, dark brown, saddle, tan, and cream) and hair on is tanned with the existing fur/hair left on the hide. Please note how you would like completed when raw hides are sent in, all hides will default to tan unless noted otherwise.

Spread the hide or skin out flat, FLESH SIDE UP, and SALT the entire hide with a fine salt AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. The hide should not be folded or stacked in a pile without being salted as this will cause the hide to heat and spoil. Ship or deliver your skins as soon as possible to avoid spoilage and grain damage.

DO NOT STORE HIDES IN PLASTIC BAGS!

SALTED hides can be folded into a bundle leaving the hair side out, the salt will then be inside the hide.  Placing the hide inside a plastic bag is excellent WHEN SHIPPING, not storing. Place the hide in a durable cardboard box  for shipping.

DRIED hides should NOT be folded as they will crack and cause grain cracks or bald spots for hair on. Instead, roll the hide into a cylinder shape and place it in your container.

Please include your name, address, phone number and color choice (tan, saddle, cream, dark brown, black, or hair on) on a piece of paper. The information should be placed inside a separate bag to ensure readability when we receive the package. If a color choice is not listed, hide will default to tan leather. NOTE: if you use a shipping service or ship trough work, BE SURE your name is INSIDE the package.

REMINDER: DO NOT STORE HIDES IN PLASTIC BAGS, ONLY USE BAGS FOR SHIPPING PURPOSES.

The size of your shipment and rates should determine your method of shipping. Prepay your shipments, we no longer accept freight collect shipments. All hides are individually marked upon arrival. Then, hides are salted, cured, and properly stored until they are tanned to insure the best leather.

Leather:              Deer: $46.00

                               Elk: $175.00

                               Cow/ Moose/ Buffalo: $285.00

         Note:      Moose, cow, and buffalo hides will be cut in half from neck to tail due to equipment limitations -- this is only applicable to leather tanning. 

Hair On:               Deer: $85.00

                                All other animals, call for pricing.

When your hides are completed, we will notify you with an itemized invoice to the address you provided. If you cannot pick up the order, please remit payment so we can ship your hides to you. We accept check, credit card, and cash.

All prices are subject to change without notice.

In the event that your raw and/or tanned hide is lost or damaged while in our possession, our liability for loss, damage or delay is limited to the fair market value of the item at the time of loss. Under no circumstances shall Century Leather be liable for extra, consequential, or special damages, no matter how caused. By submitting hides for tanning, you agree to limit damages as set forth. Due to many factors that have an effect on the final result of tanning, all tanning is done at the owners risk, and we do not guarantee a specific result.
